Top Tech Cities around the Globe

Jan 12, 13 Top Tech Cities around the Globe

It would be fair to say the technology industry had a big impact over the last few decades on cities. The employment benefits is perhaps the largest, particularly in a time of crisis such as todays standards. Hazaar for the tech industry! What if you wake up one day and suddenly decide you just have to reside within a tech city? Well have no fear fellow techies, my collection of the best technological cities has been put together, so read on!

San Jose – Silicon Valley
Getting its well known name for producing much of its revenues via silicon microchips,  silicon valley is the place to be for any tech company. All you’re usual players operating in the area, Ebay, Adobe, Apple & Nvidia just to name a few. It started its goliath reputation during the oh-so sweet web bubble in the 90′s, during which I was just a little’un playing with action men and stomping on ants. Little did I know that this tech city would probably be on my number one places to work in the distant future.

London – Silicon Roundabout (Tech city)

TechFuse on tech city LondonYou know, that city we call our capital? Yes, that’s the one. Would you have known that the tech industry actually has its own sector, silicon roundabout, based within central and east London its comprised of major players and small alike. Google, Intel, Facebook, they’re all there. Its what you would try to describe as one big happy family sharing a rather expensive playground. After all London is notoriously known for being expensive so what happens to those little men? Well it just so happens that a figure of around 3,000 start-ups exist in the east London area. A pretty substantial feat by any means but it dosen’t have the same reputation as our next candidate.

Hong Kong – ??? Profit ???

A newcomer in the industry Hong Kong is a perfect example of a city that adapted to become a world player. Its broadband speeds are something we can only dream of within the UK and beginner capital costs are minimal. The recent approach to mobile based audiences gave out a perfect opportunity to develop the latest apps and games. Unlike China Hong Kong provides a free uncensored internet making many Beijing based companies flock to the city for a glimpse of the real web and not government controlled tosh! If only you weren’t such an expensive flight journey for a poor student, I’d visit in a flash.

Berlin – Silicon Allee

TechFuse on Berlin tech & gaming industryAh Berlin, home to you’re amazingly good kebabs and that great currywurst sausage you produce you also provide a promising environment for start-up entrepreneurs. How would I know? Well I work there for one, and so does almost everybody else here, in fact, aside from tech interns and hipsters you struggle to find other employment. The cities booming with ideas for the next big thing to hit the internet, Soundcloud & Groupon were both born here. The ‘poor but sexy’ city has been said to be the silicon valley of Europe, it sure shows a lot of potential and the slave interns like myself would most certainly agree its trying its hardest to be just that.

  1. I would like to read your newer posts, so I will bookmark you. hope to see your updates.

  2. Interesting article, I think low living cost cities will certainly have a part to play with future start ups in the tech industry. Few people can afford to live in the London’s and new yorks of this world anymore.

    • I’d definitely agree, some cities just seem to be getting too expensive for the average Joe, but with BRIC countries doing surprisingly well perhaps we will see a switch.
